Jersey

Established in 1898, the Australian Jersey Breeders Society (AJBS) is the independent custodian of the Jersey Breed in Australia. 

Accurate documentation is the key factor in the registration of the Australian Jersey pedigree.  Registered Australian Jerseys have a guaranteed degree of registered Jersey ancestry (AJA) which can be verified through the AJBS Certificate of Registration and Extended Pedigrees. 

The AJBS Certificate of Registration details the ancestry of the animal to four generations.  It also discloses any genetic disorders that may be present in the animal’s breeding history.

Climatic adaptability

The ability of the Australian Jersey to adapt to a variety of environmental conditions has resulted in its widespread distribution across both the cooler and warmer areas of Australia. 

Jerseys are bred and farmed in the warm tropics of the north to the cooler southern states and from the east to the west coasts of the country. 

Jerseys are also recognised internationally as the most heat tolerant of all European dairy breeds – source USDA.
